No need to retrospect again, but wow \u2013 what a variety of experiences I\u2019ve had. I <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">never<\/span> thought I\u2019d work at Microsoft this long, but I have no regrets.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some non-traditional stats I thought I\u2019d share.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of offices:<strong>15<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of buildings I\u2019ve worked in: <strong>7<\/strong> (Buildings 4, 10, 27, 118, 21, \u201cWestpark\u201d, and 30)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Most number of offices in one building: <strong>5 <\/strong>(building 27)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of managers: <strong>12 <\/strong>(including one manager for nearly 6 years)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Note: two of those managers lasted only a week<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of projects I\u2019ve worked on that were cancelled by BillG: <strong>1<\/strong> (in 1999 or so, I was part of a small virtual team working on some digitial tv stuff)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of programming and script languages I\u2019ve learned <strong>9 <\/strong>(in mostly chronological order: Visual Test, C, C++, Perl, VBScript, x86 Assembly, C#, Python (I\u2019ve used all of these for testing except Python)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of shipping products I\u2019ve worked on: <strong>11<\/strong> (not bad, considering that I spent 5 years in EE <em>not<\/em> working on products)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Update:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of employees at MS when I started: <strong>~7500 <\/strong>(compared with ~90k today)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of those 7500 still at MS: <strong>~4500<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Number of those 4500 with the same start date as mine: <strong>30<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There\u2019s probably more, but that\u2019s all that comes to the top of my mind.
