{"id":1573,"date":"2019-05-03T06:03:08","date_gmt":"2019-05-03T13:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/angryweasel.com\/blog\/?p=1573"},"modified":"2019-05-03T06:03:16","modified_gmt":"2019-05-03T13:03:16","slug":"five-for-friday-may-3-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/angryweasel.com\/blog\/five-for-friday-may-3-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Five for Friday \u2013 May 3, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It&#8217;s been another incredibly busy week &#8211; many many meetings to help me ramp up &#8211; but I managed to find a few things worth sharing attempting to use the internet as a learning vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It&#8217;s no coincidence that this article on <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/s\/please-advise\/as-a-leader-time-is-your-most-valuable-resource-133ae50ccba4\">Leaders and Time<\/a> found its way into my queue<\/li><li>I&#8217;m surprised I didn&#8217;t share this article already. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fellow.app\/blog\/2019\/how-managers-give-and-receive-feedback\/\">How great managers give and receive feedback<\/a><\/li><li>I&#8217;ve thought for a long time that there must be <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/eight-reasons-why-comedians-make-good-leaders-116029\">reasons why comedians make good leaders<\/a> &#8211; now there&#8217;s an article about this exact thing. I don&#8217;t agree completely with the appoint about using comedy to soften criticism, as it may prevent the message from being &#8220;heard&#8221;, but there&#8217;s value in all eight of these reasons<\/li><li>I&#8217;ve been listening to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techtalkyall.com\/\">Tech Talk Y&#8217;all <\/a>podcast for a few months now, and it will stay on my download list. The show is just a quick recap of tech stories from the last week along with a few recommendations from the hosts daily life. They try to have fun, and manage to do so without being annoying.<\/li><li>I read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romanpichler.com\/romans-books\/strategize\/?doing_wp_cron=1556888110.8137910366058349609375\">Strategize<\/a> by Roman Pichler last week. It&#8217;s written for product managers, but I think it&#8217;s a great book for anyone who wants to create (or be part of a team creating) software for <em>people<\/em>. <br \/>This line could be right out of The Lean Startup:<br \/><br \/><em>A product roadmap is not a guarantee; it is a high-level plan that describes the likely growth of your product based on what you currently know.<\/em><br \/><br \/>My new role involves some product and program planning tasks, and keeping this line in mind has been helpful.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been another incredibly busy week &#8211; many many meetings to help me ramp up &#8211; but I managed to find a few things worth sharing attempting to use the internet as a learning vehicle.
