I hope you find something interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First off, there may, or may not be a FfF next week, as I&#8217;ll be at DefCon! I&#8217;ve wanted to attend for a long time, but work, then covid (which I&#8217;m still a bit nervous about) got in the way, but I&#8217;m committed this year. I found this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lastweekasavciso.com\/p\/def-con-a-beginners-guide-part-ii\">beginners guide to defcon<\/a> series to be helpful and interesting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I could (and should&#8230;) write an entire blog post on why your standup meetings suck. This article on why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.remoteworkprep.com\/blog\/standups-are-outdated-do-this-instead\">Standups are Outdated<\/a> is enough to get the conversation started while I let the idea bounce around in my brain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I watched a bit of the c-span coverage of the Trump arraignment yesterday &#8211; and <em>once again<\/em> was surprised by the misinformation. Here&#8217;s a nice summary of how <a href=\"https:\/\/popehat.substack.com\/p\/people-are-lying-to-you-about-the\">People Are Lying To You About The Trump Indictment<\/a>. It&#8217;s super-informative and clears up (for me at least) a lot of the crap talking points<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chris Fenning&#8217;s <em>The First Minute<\/em> is still my go to reference on how to begin conversations, but along those same veins is this article on <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2023\/08\/mastering-the-art-of-the-request\">The Art of the Request<\/a>. Far too often, people will complain to me that people &#8220;don&#8217;t do what they ask&#8221; &#8211; and far too often, the problem is on the wrong side of the airlock.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pure brag, because they&#8217;re sold out (of print versions), but I snagged a book version of <a href=\"https:\/\/if50.textories.com\/\">50 Years of Text Games<\/a>, and I&#8217;m super excited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s all &#8211; thanks for reading.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back again for another week of random links that bounced around my head this week.
