I decided almost last minute to walk the Wonderland Trail again this year. Here&#8217;s an obligatory trail pic before I get into the internet news that&#8217;s crossed my path.<br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two different people have pointed me to <a href=\"https:\/\/notebooklm.google.com\">NotebookLM<\/a> this week. I&#8217;ve played with it briefly, and it&#8217;s sort of freaking me out. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Again, I do not share <em>every<\/em> Mike Cohn post, but this one on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountaingoatsoftware.com\/blog\/the-surprising-cost-of-bad-estimates\">The Surprising Cost of Bad Estimates<\/a> has a lot of good points. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I&#8217;m always happy when an actual study with data underlines a lot of what I feel like is obvious. This article on <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2024\/09\/how-the-next-generation-of-managers-is-using-gen-ai\">How the Next Generation of Managers Is Using Gen AI <\/a>is worth a read.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speaking of AI and head-nodding &#8211; nothing surprising here. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/ai-generated-code-outages\/\">AI-Generated Code is Causing Outages and Security Issues in Businesses<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the recommendation from a colleague, I began reading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/68428.The_Final_Empire\">The Final Empire<\/a> on my hike. I&#8217;m about half-way through, and I&#8217;m really enjoying it. I&#8217;ll likely begin a long path through the whole Mistborn series.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m all out of vacation days, so I&#8217;ll be back next week with more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh hey &#8211; I skipped a week.
