{"id":711,"date":"2013-10-01T18:43:45","date_gmt":"2013-10-02T01:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/angryweasel.com\/blog\/?p=711"},"modified":"2013-10-01T18:43:47","modified_gmt":"2013-10-02T01:43:47","slug":"one-down-two-to-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/angryweasel.com\/blog\/one-down-two-to-go\/","title":{"rendered":"One down, two to go&hellip;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>it\u2019s 6:30-ish pm, and I\u2019m killing time waiting for my sound check for tomorrow\u2019s keynote, and thought I\u2019d do a quick brain dump of today\u2019s tutorial session.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s session was \u201cAlan Page: On Testing\u201d \u2013 which is a pretty wide open topic. For the slide handouts, I slapped together slides from a bunch of things I <em>could<\/em> talk about, but my plan all along was different. In a perhaps risky move, I decided that I\u2019d take the first 10 minutes of the session to collect as many questions from the audience as I could, then I loosely grouped the questions and put together a few impromptu talks to cover the answers. I took questions as I went, plus a few ad-hoc questions at the end, and filled the 3.5 hour session. <\/p>\n<p>The problem with this sort of thing is that it exhausts me. I\u2019m wiped out, and I\u2019ve lost half of my voice, but I should be good to go for my keynote in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>The other drawback of this sort of session (and the few pieces of feedback I glanced at reflect this) is that this sort of session is polarizing, Attendees either got a ton of value, or little value \u2013 comments like \u201cLove the unstructured format \u2013 tons of great information\u201d were contrasted with, \u201cDidn\u2019t like the unstructured format \u2013 too much information\u201d.
