Fog Creek Fun

Whaaa…? Two posts on automation in one week?

Normally, I’d refrain, but for those who missed it on twitter, I recorded an interview with Fog Creek last week on the Abuse and Misuse of Test Automation. It’s short and sweet (and that includes my umms and awws).

I’m a big fan of exploratory testing. I’ve used the approach long before I knew what it was called and think it’s the core of good testing. it’s so ingrained in the general approaches I’ve used in my career that I often don’t differentiate between exploratory testing and plain-old-testing (I’ve gone as far to say…

  1. Alan,
I just watched/listened to “The Abuse and Misuse of Test Automation” and have to say BRAVO! Straightforward and honest about the whole affair. I’m going to “make” my colleagues and management watch/listen to this. You hit on a lot of things in relation to what I call the “Automagic” problem with Test Automation work. If I ever run into you at a conference I’ll be buying you a beer (or two or more).

Thanks for the honesty, it is what is needed in this line of work.

    Regards,
